How To Win Employer Of The Year

If you run a small business, then you know just how hard of work it is and not just for you, but for everyone. Small businesses-- especially start-ups-- have alarmingly high failure rates which puts a lot of pressure on small businesses to defeat the odds and really succeed. If you feel like your employees work all of the time and maybe don't get the recognition that they deserve every day, then there are a few small things that you can do to ensure that they are happy and that they even consider giving you the title of "employer of the year" at the end of the year. 

Hire a Water Delivery Service

This may seem like a small thing that you can do for your employees but without it, they probably wouldn't be very happy. Rather than making your employees drink out of the tap, consider hiring a water delivery service, like Dean's  Waterservice Inc, to come deliver large jugs of water every couple of days. By having the water hooked up to a small machine, your employees can get hot and cold water that's filtered, whenever they want or need it. 

Snacks

Sure, your employees aren't toddlers but they are bound to get hungry and want some snacks. Consider filling the break room full of snacks that they can eat at their desk whenever they get hungry. For instance, you can go to a big box store like Costco or Sam's Club every couple of weeks and load up on fresh fruits, crackers, chips, fruit leather, fruit snacks, and even popcorn. 

Monthly Lunches

Another fun thing that you can do to show appreciation to your employees is to take them out for monthly or quarterly lunches. Depending on how small your company is and how many employees you have may determine just how frequently you can treat them to lunch. If you can't afford to take everyone out, consider taking your top performers as a way to show them your appreciation. 

Running a small business is extremely stressful for everyone involved. If you feel like your employees are constantly working their tails off, then you may want to do some small things to help them feel appreciated. By taking the time to show them that you care, you can hopefully help them work harder which will, in turn, help your company to succeed. Remember that when it comes to running a business and managing employees, it's the small things that count.
